For over fifty years Community Auction has been the place for mid-Missourians
to buy and sell all types of merchandise. In our present location
since 1990, we hold auctions every Tuesday and Thursday year round.
From a single item to an entire estate, from brand new to antique,
we have a ready market for your merchandise. Vehicles, furniture,
boats, campers, antiques, appliances, household, tools, guns, fresh produce,
even pets, are just some of the times you will see for sale. Community Auction
is unlike any other consignment sale you may have attended!
Auctions are held at Kemper Arena of Columbia, located at 1270 Boone Industrial Drive, just 2 miles north of Interstate 70 on Rangeline Street (Hwy 763). Kemper Arena is the area's premier auction facility. Built from the ground up for auctions, Kemper Arena is a clean, well lighted, well maintained arena with plenty of free parking. It is your insurance against a "rained out" event. Our experienced auctioneers, ring people, clerks, cashiers, and clean-up crew work hard to get top dollar for your property. On site home cooked food provides buyers a chance to enjoy a meal without leaving.
A computerized clerking and inventory system insures that sellers are paid quickly and accurately. Sellers and buyers receive an itemized printout of their sales and purchases for easy bookkeeping. We provide tables, display cases and public address systems where needed. We have trucks, trailers, and an experienced moving crew who can pickup and unload your items for sale if you are unable to deliver them yourself.
We accept consignments (merchandise for sale) from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. the day of the sale, or other days by prior arrangement. The auction begins at 9:30 a.m. and continues until everything is sold, usually 3 to 4 hours. We charge 20% commission for most things, 10% for guns, coins, and cars, and some large ticket items are 5% (call for information). Small quantities sometimes are charged 30%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will you pick my items up and take them to the sale for me?
Yes, for a fee. We have an experienced and careful staff that can pick up your items and
unload them for sale.
Can I bring items to sell on other days and times?
Only by special arrangement, as we are frequently working on other auctions and do not keep regular office hours on other days. Kemper Arena is also frequently rented for other events -- weddings, meetings, etc. During these events, the Arena is not available for receiving consignments. Please call for information.
What can I bring to sell?
We sell all sorts of property. Furniture, collectibles, household, antiques, tools, coins, guns, vehicles, boats, appliances, electronics, virtually anything that is usable or functional. Good property brings good prices.
What can not be sold at auctions?
Some examples of items we do not accept for sale include any type of hazardous waste, tires in poor condition, stained or ripped mattresses or upholstered furniture, and old or used paint. Items of this nature which we have to dispose of may incur a dumping fee.
How much will my stuff sell for?
With any sales method, the price is determined by the buyer. The appeal of the auction method is that market demand (selling price) is determined quickly and efficiently. Highly sought-after items command an excellent price. Items in plentiful supply and low demand, will reflect less that with a lower selling price. With the auction method you won't lose money by putting too low a price on high-demand items, nor will you waste time asking too much for a low-demand item. Some items will probably sell for more than you expect while others might bring less than you expect.
